Minyon Grass Lookout to Minyon Falls

Starting from the end of Minyon Grass Road, Repentance Creek, this walk takes you to the base of the Minyon Falls and back via the Minyon Loop Track, visiting Minyon Grass Lookout near the start. You’ll be stunned by the sheer size and power of the waterfall that is before your eyes. Standing 100 metres tall, the plunge waterfall cascades down the vertical rhyolite rock face to a scenic waterhole. Bring your swimmers and don’t miss out on the opportunity of cooling off in this exceptional scenery. You can also have a serene picnic by the water afterwards. As you make your way along the creek to the falls, you’ll be surrounded by Bangalow Palm trees that seem to be dominating the subtropical rainforest. Interesting fungi species such as the turkey tails and jelly mushrooms can be found in the area as well. Keep in mind that the last section before reaching the base of the falls involves rock hopping/scrambling. The waterfall is best viewed after decent rainfall, but that can also lead to more slippery footing and leeches. Grippy hiking shoes are recommended. Precise caution as there are steep drop-offs at parts of the track. Let us begin by acknowledging the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we travel today, and pay our respects to their Elders past and present.

Getting started
From the end of Minyon Grass Road, head northwest along the Minyon Loop Trail as you pass by Minyon Grass Lookout to your right. Stay on the said track as it meanders deeper into the rainforest and becomes hugs Repentance Creek(to the left). Follow the track towards the base of the falls to continue along Minyon Grass Lookout to Minyon Falls Track. Realign with the creek if you get lost, and look for orange arrows nailed into trees for guidance.....

	From the Minyon Loop veer left, to head along Minyon Loop. After another 25 m pass the "Barbeque" (20 m on your left).
	After another 1.6 km (from the Minyon Loop) continue straight. After another 120 m come to a viewpoint. About 75 m past the end is "Minyon Falls".
	Turn around here and retrace the main route for 1.8 km to get back to the start.

- Nightcap National Park alerts
  Closed areas: Nightcap Range Road closed in both directions
  Nightcap Range Road is closed to traffic in both directions due to a major landslip associated with the 2022 flood event. The closure affects the section of Nightcap Range Road between Rummery Road intersection and Telephone Road trailer parking area.
  Access to Minyon Falls and Rummery Park is via Minyon Falls Road only.

  Closed areas: Protestors Falls walking track closed
  Protestors Falls walking track will be affected by closures from 29 April to 20 May 2025 for maintenance works to replace the footbridge. There will be no public access from the end of the elevated boardwalk platform. Terania Creek picnic area will remain open.
